Within a ten minute drive of Laurelwood,
there are several banks and restaurants, a hardware store, a pharmacy, a grocery store, a gym, a post office and a library.
There is a large family practice medical facility, several dental clinics, and a veterinarian. Old Trail Golf Club in Crozet
is now open and a retail/office complex is under construction nearby. Coming in the fall of 2008 is a Harris-Teeter grocery
store.
The Blue Ridge Parkway and access to the Appalachian Trail are a ten minute drive west of Laurelwood. Forty minutes away
is Wintergreen Ski Resort.
Twenty minutes to the west, in Waynesboro, are a Martin's grocery store, a Lowe's, a Home Depot and a Starbuck's. In
the same area is a retail complex that includes Target, Kohls, Petsmart, and the craft store Michael's.
Twenty minutes to the east, in Charlottesville, are the University of Virginia, the University of Virginia Medical Center,
and the Downtown Mall, home to the Paramount Theater and a wide array of shops, restaurants, and services. Twenty five minutes
southeast of Laurelwood is Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson.
